MISSOURI INNOVATION CAMPUS

The University of Missouri System is a state university system providing centralized administration for four universities, a health care system, an extension program, and ten research and technology parks. All four campuses are comprehensive, separately accredited, land-grant/research-intensive institutions offering undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree programs combined into one campus.

MIC is a unique high-school program that aims to prepare students for careers in areas such as engineering, computer science, health care, and creative sciences located in 1101 NW Innovation Parkway Lee’s Summit , Missouri where nearly 70,000 students are enrolled at its four campuses with an area of approximately 135,000 sq. feet

The design concept is modern and up to date, with a pop of color added to each area which encourages collaboration and provides comfortable seating couches for students. Saying goodbye to old white walls and old school boring designs, different spaces have been made attractive with great use of color as indication for wayfinding.

This high-tech, STEM-focused facility at the Missouri Innovation Campus serves 600 students designed by DLR Group and design partner Gould Evans created a space for the students that focuses on learner outcome combined with real-life workplace experience. Learning and teaching happens everywhere, by design. Open, flexible spaces have been created by the design team that encourages spontaneous collaboration between students, teachers, and higher education faculty.

Throughout the building its character takes on a sense of Academia meets Google with a commitment to create incidental contact that results in collaboration between students, teachers and higher education faculty where Learning and teaching happens everywhere.
