An old Railway converted into a Casino, The Casino Regina is located in downtown Regina in the historic Union Station, Saskatchewan Canada. The building served as Regina’s train station from 1912 until 1990, when passenger rail service to Regina ended. This beautiful old historic building underwent extensive renovations to get converted into a casino that entertains more than three million people every year.

PCL Construction Management Inc. or known as PCL was hired to refresh the Casino Regina in 2009. The project included several components that needed to complete, mostly updating the decors and spaces inside the building. First stop was the gaming area including upgrading three food service areas; updating the show lounge/theatre; adding a mezzanine to the stage area; renovating 2,600 square feet of tenant space; adding a basement locker room and finally installing high-end specialty finishes throughout public areas.

A tour inside the building, positioned on a wall in the central hall, is a schedule board displaying the arrivals and departures on the day the train station closed back in 1990. The hall itself was the station’s main concourse that features a high ceiling with simple chandeliers and a clock near the top of the back wall.

The casino houses some 800 slot machines, 35 table games, and a 9-table poker room. Regularly scheduled Union Station historic tours are another attraction, as are the nightly LED shows.

Inside the main concourse, the ceiling mimics the night sky as it would actually appear outside the casino.
