Inside a 3,500 sqft location in California, San Francisco, United States Capital One Labs teamed up with Studio O+A a designed studio based in San Francisco. O+A’s designers decided to put together colors that would be striking for the eyes. The colors chosen for the staircase, “Rustic Drama,” and the support beams, “Gabled Blue,” and the seating cushions, “Hot Pink,” and the refrigerator, “Lime Green,” came together in such ways that it wasn’t over powering each other but rather a harmonious blend of hues in one space.

“It was nice to have a client who was open to Hot Pink,” says Designer Alma Lopez.

Wall cubbies fitted out in Paul Smith plaid are accessible for all, soft couches all over the area that a offer a repose and a cozy nook inside the space is accessed by a ladder that somewhat looks like a tree house offer a place of relaxation for the employees perfect for breaks in between brainstorming sessions for projects where most of them stay in the office for a day or two and not getting much sleep at all.

Among other interesting design ideas that Studio O+A created were the sound-absorbing Tectum panels suspended from the ceiling visible all over the space creating character and somewhat conceal the mechanical and electrical systems. Custom furniture were from MASHstudios, an elevated bike rack is also featured as one eye catchy design element on the space, and gabled blue “support beams cut across the communal workplace that makes the space look more bigger than it already is.

The most visually striking in all of the design elements was no doubt the staircase that connects the second and third floors in bright yellow that exemplifies Studio O+A core beliefs.

“You’re creating an experience coming down those stairs,” Lopez says.
